About Us
Hanney Film Nights happen every first Friday of the month from September up to and including May with occasional one off ‘special’ showings at the Hanney War Memorial Hall. The purpose is a social event and to entertain people with a selection of ‘Blockbuster’, ‘Modern Classic’, ‘Classic’ & ‘Quirky’ films. All the profits go to the hall which is registered charity and so far over 7 years over £15,000 has been raised.
Starting with ‘Made in Dagenham’ on Friday, January 7th 2011 the expected 30 or so customers turned out to be 110 and a certain organised chaos ensued, building on a solid base the screen and sound system have progressively been upgraded (with the considerable assistance of Owen Wright’s family) and now boasts a system to be proud of taking advantage of the modern ‘Blu Ray’ quality DVD’s. Highlights have been ‘Philomena’, ‘Casablanca’, ‘The Station Agent’, ‘Temple Grandin’, ‘Spectre’, ’The 100 year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared’ and recently ‘Their Finest’. Supported by the Hanney Drama Group and The Village Hall, the bar is open at each presentation and an interval (comfort) break is compulsory with a free raffle for a bottle of wine or a free pass to a future showing.
Come along one night, a warm welcome a waits. No membership is required just £6.00 (£5.00 concessions), times and film are published in the Hanney News and you can join our email list. Normally doors open 7:30pm with a start of 8pm (can occasionally vary depending on the film length).
